Tottenham transfer news: Darjio Srna believes Luka Modric will become a star on the continent
Darjio Srna believes Croatia team-mate Luka Modric could be crowned the European footballer of the year if he made a move to Spain.
The 26-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from White Hart lane, with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Real Madrid said to be interested.
“Modric is a great friend of mine and an outstanding football player,” Srna told L’Equipe. “I know that Manchester United and Chelsea want him, but playing in Spain would allow for further development of his talent and I believe that he could win the Ballon d’Or.
“In the Spanish league he could be much brighter, because in England it is a more physical game and it is difficult for his features to come out.
“I respect that Tottenham have excellent players, but they are never going to win the Premier League.”
Tottenham blogger Alan Robins gives his verdict on Spurs’ season.
