Harry Redknapp hopes that Scott Parker will be available for Sunday’s trip to Aston Villa after missing the last two games with an Achilles injury.

Parker was absent for the victories over Blackburn Rovers and Bolton but is back in contention, and Kyle Walker is also set to return to Villa Park – where he spent the second half of last season on loan - despite a broken toe.

“Scott feels a bit better today so he’s going to come out and train,” said Redknapp. “He’s had a bit of an Achilles injury, but he should be okay. We’re hoping he’s going to be fit.

“He’s had a great season for us this year, he’s been fantastic, so we hope he’s going to be available. Other than that we’re in decent shape.

“Kyle Walker broke his toe but he’s okay. He’s had an injection and he’ll have another injection before the weekend. He’ll be fine. Most of the players are okay.”

Having recently been voted the PFA Young Player of the Year, Walker signed a new contract with Spurs yesterday.

The new deal keeps the England international at White Hart Lane until 2017 – and Redknapp has high hopes for the 21-year-old and another young right-back, 23-year-old Kyle Naughton.

“He [Walker] has done ever so well since he came here,” said the manager. “We loaned him out last year, I thought it was important that he went out and got some experience and played.

“He started off at QPR and then he went to Villa and played some Premier League football, and he showed that he was ready to come back here and play.

“He’s had a great season. He’s the future – and so is the other lad, [Kyle] Naughton, who’s on loan at Norwich.

“I decided to get him [Naughton] some league experience as well this year, and we brought Walker back here. The pair of them are both good players, we’re hopeful they’ve both got good futures.”
