Jan Vertonghen says his fellow Tottenham centre-backs are helping him prepare for life in the Premier League.

“I’ve played with Michael Dawson, Gallas and today with Kaboul and they’re great defenders. I’m learning from them,” said the Belgian, who joined Spurs from Dutch champions Ajax earlier this month.

“You have to be fit for the Premier League, it’s a totally different league to the Dutch league.

“We have to create a feeling that we can trust each other and we’re working on that in training and during the games,” he added.

Verthongen has been full of praise for his new club, and says he has settled quickly.

“Everybody is very down to earth. They are helping me with everything and I like the guys. It’s a normal team with normal guys and that’s what I like.

“I feel good here. Great lads, good manager and I feel good at Spurs right now.”
