Tottenham transfer news: Steven Pienaar is likely to return to the Toffees
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has admitted that Steven Pienaar is likely to join Everton in the summer.
The South Africa international, who is a fan favourite with the Toffees, returned to Goodison Park on loan in January, after a difficult year at White Hart Lane and has been the subject of speculation that he will make the move permanent.
And his manager will not stand in the way if Pienaar wants to return to Merseyside.
“Steven Pienaar is a good player,” said Redknapp. ”I would think in all honestly he’s going to want to stay at Everton. He seems to have produced his best form there. He was unlucky at Tottenham.
“He’s a good player, a very very good player. It’s just I had Gareth Bale playing on the left-hand side and you can’t dislodge Gareth Bale. He’s one of the best left-sided players in the world, without a shadow of a doubt.
“If he’s going to want to stay at Everton and Everton want him then obviously the deal is going to have to be right for Tottenham, otherwise he comes back to Tottenham.”
With the Premier League title already in Manchester United’s hands and the relegation issues also decided, the battle for European football is the only unanswered question ahead of Sunday’s final round of games.
