Transfer News: Harry Redknapp wants to keep Emmanuel Adebayor
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has admitted that he wants to keep Manchester City loanee Emmanuel Adebayor.
The 28-year-old scored 17 league goals in 33 appearances and helped the north Londoners finish fourth, which will guarantee a Champions League spot, should Bayern Munich beat Chelsea on Saturday.
“He was only a loan and his loan is up,” Redknapp said. “It is up to the chairman if we could loan him again. I would like to keep him, obviously. He has done great for us.
“But I don’t know. We don’t pay them wages - the only way we could do a deal was if the chairman did a clever deal like he did this year for him.”
Redknapp believes that Manchester City would be happy to offload Adebayor.
“They don’t want him. They don’t want to see him ever again, if we are being honest,” he said. “They want him out of the way and that is why they let him go.”
Tottenham’s Andros Townsend says he has learned valuable lessons during his stellar loan spell with QPR – and he is keen to impress Spurs’ coaches again today when he faces Liverpool at Anfield.
