Transfer news: German side keen to snare Rafael van der Vaart
Hamburg have admitted that they are running out of time to lure Rafael van der Vaart away from Tottenham.
Spurs signed Fulham’s Moussa Dembele to for £15 million on a five-year deal today and that has cast further doubt on the Dutchman’s future.
The attacking midfielder has been strongly linked with a return to his former club and the German outfit are in a race against the clock to get their man before Friday’s transfer deadline.
Van der Vaart is said to be valued at around £14 million by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, almost double the figure Tottenham paid Real Madrid for the 29-year-old two years ago.
Carl-Edgar Jarchow, chairman of the Bundesliga side, told Deutsche Presse-Agentur: “There is not a lot of time - it is really up to Tottenham Hotspur.
“If we have a chance to sign him, we will do everything we can to make that happen.”
