The Spurs head coach hailed his side’s character
Tottenham head coach Andre Villas-Boas is delighted with the mentality and determination of his side after their 2-1 victory over New York Red Bulls.
The north Londoners were trailing to a Kenny Cooper goal at half-time before Gareth Baela dn Gylfi Sigurdsson found the net to hand Spurs the win.
“It was good and that’s mainly because of the response in the second half,” Villas-Boas.
“We were a bit spread out on the pitch in the first half and they were playing in-between us.
“We came back very strong and managed to get the win that everyone deserved.
“When you go into the dressing room 1-0 down and you are able to turn it around, showing strong character, that is always positive, because of the players’ mentality and determination to get the result. That’s a good sign.”
With the Premier League title already in Manchester United’s hands and the relegation issues also decided, the battle for European football is the only unanswered question ahead of Sunday’s final round of games.
