Rennes believe that they will be able to fend off interest from Arsenal and Tottenham for Yann M’Vila, with Newcastle and Everton also keen on the midfielder.

The Gunners were reported to be close to the deal before manager Arsene Wenger changed his mind, while Spurs are believed to have had a bid rejected.

Manager Frederic Antonetti believes that the closer it gets to the transfer deadline, the more likely it is that the 22-year-old will stay.

“We have had some contact but nothing more than that. The more time goes on the more we can think he will stay,” Antonetti is quoted as saying by the Telegraph.

“Now, as I have been saying for some time, we know Yann could still go in the final week of the transfer window.”
