Former Chelsea coach Ray Wilkins doesn’t believe Blues target Hulk is in the same class as departed striker Didier Drogba, and thinks they might be better off sticking with Fernando Torres.
The 25-year-old Hulk’s formidable scoring record for Porto has seen him strongly linked with Tottenham as well as Chelsea, but Wilkins is unconvinced.
“I was at Chelsea on a couple of occasions when we played against Hulk,” said Wilkins. “He’s not in the class of Drogba, but then not a lot of people are. He’s going to be an extremely difficult person to replace.”
“I honestly think that with Drogba leaving this summer we will see a far better Fernando Torres this year,” he continued.
“He had the big man always looking down upon him last season and that’s not easy because someone with charisma and the ability of Drogba can weigh on top of you.”
Manchester City midfielder Jack Rodwell has been called into the England squad for the forthcoming friendlies against Republic of Ireland and Brazil.
