Juan Mata ‘scored’ a crucial second goal

Chelsea captain John Terry has led calls for goal-line technology after the Blues benefited from a controversial goal but felt his side deserved a place in the final.

Juan Mata was the beneficiary of the decision although replays indicated the ball did not touch the goal-line and Terry admitted the goal should not have stood.

“I thought it hit me and stayed out but I haven’t seen it on the replays,” he told ITV.

“We’ve been calling for goal-line technology for a very long time.

“Let’s hope that people make the right decisions.

“It was an important game today and fortunately it went our way. Throughout the season things go with you and go against you and today it’s gone with us and we’re delighted.

“I thought we were the better side and scored some great goals.”

Didier Drogba had given Chelsea the lead before Mata ‘struck’ and although Gareth Bale pulled a goal back Ramires, Frank Lampard and Florent Malouda sealed the win for the Blues.
