High winds have felled a tree crushing a car and completely blocking a Crouch End street.

Schoolboy Harry Ghose Coveney spotted the tree lying across Coolhurst Road, near the junction with Shepherds Hill, at around 3.15pm today as he was cycling home from football practise.

Harry, who goes to Highgate Wood secondary school in Montenotte Road, Crouch End, said the tree is from a residential garden, and knocked down the front wall.

The car was parked and empty when the tree fell.

The 12-year-old, who took these pictures with his mobile phone, says few people were at the scene and those he spoke to didn’t see or hear the incident happen.

Harry said: “The tree is completely barricading the road, so we crawled under it to take a picture. It was a real disaster zone.”

It is thought the car belongs to a man carrying out painting and decorating work in one of the homes on the street.

Harry’s father Simi said: “When I saw the pictures I told Harry he should tell somebody.”

The emergency services have been alerted.
