Traffic was thrown into chaos in Muswell Hill this morning after a man went into cardiac arrest in his car.
Cars came to a complete standstill after the 69-year-old man fell ill as he drove his car on the roundabout at Muswell Hill Broadway just before 8.40am.
Extensive efforts were made to ressucitate the pensioner, who had to be taken to the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead where efforts were continued.
The emergency services - including the air ambulance - arrived at the scene after they received reports of a collision involving a bus and the car, believed to be a Mini Cooper.
Eye-witnesses also took to Twitter to report the accident.
@redstar15 said “Wow all routes to muswell hill are blocked with PURE traffic, a 5 min journey is gonna take me 30 mins or more now”, while @shanechowen tweeted “Muswell Hill-ers are HITCHHIKING to nearby tube stations due to RTI”.
