A Tottenham girl has beaten thousands to reach the final stages of a national teenage beauty pageant.
Simone Hodge, 15, of Tower Gardens Road, has made it to the heat stages of this year’s Teen Princess UK competition, in a bid to reach the grand final at Alexandra Palace in September.
The schoolgirl, who attends St Anne’s Catholic High School for Girls in Enfield, was picked among a group of 80 from a total of 4,500 entrants by competition judges.
She now faces an online public vote to decide whether she makes September’s final, after her photo appeared among the latest heat of contestants on the competition’s website yesterday.
Simone’s father Martin Hodge, 44, told the Journal: “I think she can gain a lot more self-confidence, especially having done it and got somewhere.
“If she does win it then it will be a real opportunity to have a look at the modelling industry to see if she likes it.”
The teenager was originally approached by pageant scouts and encouraged to enter the competition during a school trip to the Clothes Show Live event in Birmingham last year.
One of the many prizes on offer to the Teen Princess UK overall winner is a personal appearance at this year’s Clothes Show Live.
Reflecting on her success in the contest so far, Simone said: “I’d forgotten I’d even entered it and then I got the letter - I just didn’t expect anything to happen. I feel like I could win it now!”
