Concerns have been raised following a spate of incidents allegedly involving members of the Roma gipsy community in Tottenham.
White Hart Lane councillor Gideon Bull told Haringey Council colleagues at last Monday’s Communities Scrutiny Panel meeting that residents on the Tower Gardens Estate, off Lordship Lane, had reported a number of issues to him recently.
These included reports of Roma gipsies attempting to gain access to private properties using crowbars and alleged incidents of members of the community rummaging through bins belonging to residents on the estate.
Cllr Bull said: “If people come into a community they need to understand the rules of the community.”
The comments followed a report to the panel from Cllr Richard Watson informing them of his work as cabinet member for communities.
During his report, Cllr Watson highlighted his intention to improve the integration of the Roma gipsy community in Haringey.
