The route the Olympic Flame will take through Haringey has been revealed.

The flame will go from the east to the west of the borough, before arriving at Alexandra Palace for an evening of celebration.

It will be handed over from Enfield to the first of the borough’s 22 inspirational torchbearers at the top of High Road, Tottenham, at 5.22pm on Wednesday, July 25, near the “Welcome to Haringey” sign.

The torch will then be carried down the High Road to Bruce Grove passing White Hart Lane then into Lordship Lane towards Wood Green Tube station.

It then turns down the High Road and turns right at Turnpike Lane Tube station.

From there, it will travel towards Hornsey High Street to Priory Road before finally starting the ascent along Alexandra Palace Way to arrive at the palace at 6.46pm.

Everyone is being encouraged to line the streets and join in the excitement of the Olympic Torch Relay as tickets are not required.

Haringey Council and games organiser LOCOG also hope to organise a free, ticketed early evening celebration featuring local acts in part of the grounds at Alexandra Palace ahead of the Olympic Flame arriving at its overnight resting place.

Details of how to get tickets and the programme will be released soon.

Cllr Alan Strickland, cabinet member for regeneration and social inclusion, said: “This is a wonderful opportunity for all residents to witness the amazing spectacle of the Olympic Flame passing their homes and get in the mood for the Olympic Games which start two days after this.

“The Torch Relay brings the route to life and is a once-in-a-lifetime event that both children and adults will remember forever. We would love people to line the whole relay route to provide a big, friendly welcome to the inspirational torchbearers from our community.”

LOCOG chairman Sebastian Coe added: “Now that people know the route the Olympic Flame will be carried along and the torchbearers for their community, they can start planning how they might celebrate and make it Haringey’s moment to shine.”
