More than 180 men dressed as nurses, drag queens and sexy maids turned up at Highbury Fields last weekend to compete in the third annual Great Drag Race in aid of Prostate Action.

Among those racing was Journal reporter Tim Lamden, who completed the June 30 race in 52 minutes.

He told the Journal: “I was flustered going into the race as I was unable to get my hands on a hairpiece until about an hour before the start.

“As all ladies know, there’s nothing worse than a bad hair day.”

Brick Lane Comedy Festival cancelled after opposition from community groups

A comedy festival in east London due to feature acts including Al Murray, Alan Davies and Ed Byrne has been cancelled because of “heavy opposition from local community groups”.
