Details have been released this evening of how to get your share of 4,000 tickets to the exclusive Olympic Torch Relay evening celebration at Alexandra Palace in July.
Huge demand is predicted for the tickets to the party welcoming the Olympic Flame to Haringey, which will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis online, over the phone and in person.
Tickets will be released on Saturday, May 26 at 10am, with a limit of six tickets per household.
Last Thursday, at the precise moment the Olympic Flame was being lit in Athens, Greece, one of the torches was taken to Alexandra Palace, pictured, to highlight the significance of the forthcoming event.
The evening celebration boasts a superb entertainment programme, featuring singer Loick Essien, as thousands of residents wait for the arrival of the final torchbearer at the Palace.
Cllr Matt Cooke, chair of trustees at Alexandra Palace, said: “For Alexandra Palace to host this official evening celebration reflects our historic and modern sporting connections, and coincides with the exciting announcement of our regeneration plans to secure that reputation for the future.”
Cllr Alan Strickland, Haringey Council’s cabinet member for economic regeneration and social inclusion, added: “This is an event for all the family to enjoy. It will be very popular and tickets will be in high demand, so put a reminder in your diaries or on your phone to get set for May 26.”
Ticket holders will be allowed entry from around 4pm and the main stage will come to life at 5pm, showcasing up-and-coming live music acts, acrobatics, dance performances and Haringey Young Musicians.
It culminates in the arrival of the final torchbearer, who will light the celebration cauldron on the stage.
The Olympic Torch will enter Alexandra Park from the Muswell Hill end of Alexandra Palace Way.
Following the final torchbearer exchanges - officially each known as a “kiss” - the Olympic Flame will make its final journey onto the stage by the Ally Pally Ice Rink where the Olympic Cauldron will be lit. The event is expected to end at 7pm.
