The group of Year 5 pupils organised the cake sale at the school in Oakington Way, Crouch End, to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).

Together, the four girls planned the event, promoted it in school, wrote to parents and visited local shops to ask for support –gaining donations of cakes from Waitrose, Budgens, Gail’s and Dunns.

In total, they raised £580 during the sale on April 24, which they would like to see go towards the cost of accommodation for parents staying overnight with their children at GOSH.

Headteacher Irene Rincon said: “There was an overwhelming response from children, parents and staff.

“One of our Year 5 pupils, Grace Brosnan, said that she got up at 6am on the morning of the cake sale to decorate her cake, taking care to write in icing ‘Great Ormond Street’ on the top of the cake.”
