Haringey Council’s Smarter Travel team took residence outside Hornsey Town Hall, in The Broadway, last Saturday to find out what residents thought of walking or cycling to the shops instead of using cars or public transport.

Visitors on the day had the chance to try out a range of bikes on show and could bring their own cycles along for a maintenance check from Dr Bike.

Cllr Nilgun Canver, cabinet member for environment, said: “Walking or cycling to the shops not only helps our health, but also can help improve the health of everyone in Haringey by reducing pollution and traffic congestion.

“It was good to see people of all ages coming along to this event to find out more about making short, local journeys on foot or by bike.”
