With just a few days left before the starting pistol sounds at the Hornsey YMCA 10k and Children’s Fun Run, final preparations are being made for the most ambitious and colourful festival to run alongside it.

While more than 2,500 people will be running races on the day, thousands more will be enjoying the music and entertainment in Crouch End’s Priory Park.

The family event, sponsored by Crouch End estate agents Greene & Co, features a slew of musical, theatrical and sporting acts, including a headline live set from global star Mari Wilson, who lives close to the park.

She will be joined by other local music acts including Rudeboy and Rascal, Bliss, The Daddios, Haringey Big Band, Kushti, and The Magnificent Mandolins from nearby Highgate Wood School, among others.

Jim Shepley, YMCA programme director, said: “I think I say this every time, but it’s still true; this will be a bigger and more fun-packed day than ever. We are inspired by 2012 and we hope the rest of Crouch End will be too!”

A long list of fun-filled activities are lined up for children, including a special performance of Big Goldilocks And The Three Bears by The Big Cushion Theatre Company. Other activities for youngsters include a funfair, spider mountain, bungee trampolines, gladiator duelling, football games, circus skills and face painting.

The day begins with a Zumba demonstration by fitness guru Natasha Knight, while you can help make your own smoothies using pedal power with the Haringey Smarter Travel Road Show, learn live-saving first-aid with St John Ambulance, and plate-spinning with the Scouts.

A wide selection of food and retail stalls will provide sustenance and shopping opportunities too.

The festival runs from 11am to 5pm this Sunday at Priory Park, between Middle Lane and Barrington Road, Crouch End. The Hornsey YMCA 10k and Children’s Fun Run races start from 9.30am in the park.
