Crouch End bar stages run of theatre shows

An intimate Crouch End bar is aiming to become the area’s most exclusive new theatre spot after a run of popular in-house productions.
Moors Bar owner Andy James launched the bar’s fringe theatre during the Crouch End Festival in May, with a performance of Comedy Street, an original production written by in-house playwright Seth Jones.
The 23-year-old has penned another three plays which have all been staged at the Park Road venue, attracting capacity crowds to the 40-seater bar.
Mr James, who writes himself and has also appeared in one of the plays, said: “The thing about Moors is it has a certain energy about it. There’s something about the place, whether it be Blues or performance, it just works. It’s a really nice, intimate space.
“Crouch End needs a theatre because there’s no in-house theatre group doing anything regularly in Crouch End so we thought we’d do it.”
Eastenders actor Cliff Parisi, who lives locally, has thrown his support behind the venture and has already voiced interest in appearing in a performance at the bar in the future.
