The 42-year-old woman asked for the apology after a man bumped into her as she boarded the 6.50pm London Overground service at Gospel Oak on Tuesday, July 19.

But the man began to argue with the victim, becoming aggressive and shouting at her.

It was then a woman, who was travelling with the man, also began to shout before both set upon the victim, kicking and punching her.

Neighbourhood Policing Team Sergeant Emma Weir, the investigating officer, said: “A train guard intervened and managed to stop the attack, the man and woman then left the service at South Tottenham.”

The woman, from Leyton, was left with bruises.

Officers have conducted a number of enquiries into the incident, including speaking to witnesses onboard the train and circulating images on police intelligence systems, but to no avail.

Police are now calling on the public’s help to identify the man and woman pictured, who they believe may be able to help with their enquiries.

Sgt Weir added: “This was an aggressive attack and I’d appeal for anyone who recognises the two pictures to come forward and help officers in this investigation.”
