A man was struck by a train and killed near Crouch Hill rail station this morning.

British Transport Police were called to reports of the incident at 5.24am and the man was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene.

The death is being treated as non-suspicious.

Officers are currently working to identify the man and inform his next of kin.

He was struck by a freight service travelling from Daventry to Purfleet.
