The examination in public of the North London Waste Plan (NLWP), scheduled to take place at Camden Town Hall for two weeks, was adjourned by the planning inspector on June 12 after just two hours.

This was due to objections from council authorities outside of London, where north London’s local authorities send their landfill, who raised concerns over a lack of consultation with the north London authorities.

A spokesman for Camden Council said: “The Inspector has given the seven boroughs involved in the North London Waste plan until July 27 to confirm how we have fulfilled our duty to co-operate with other local authorities who may be affected by the proposals outlined in the plan.”

The NLWP aims to develop a controversial waste processing plant in Pinkham Way, which has been met with fierce opposition following environmental concerns.
